Coming Again From the Land of the Enemy

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Have you ever wept over your children who may have strayed from the principles and precepts you tried to lovingly instill in them? Consider Jeremiah 31: 15-17:

Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

And there is hope in thine bend, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

While the Lord is speaking about Israel, I believe what he says also apply to children who stray and their faithful parents. Our loving father tells parents to gird up their faith, in a sense, and have faith that one day our work in behalf of our children will be rewarded. He reassures us that our beloved children will one day “come again from the land of the enemy”—who is Satan. Remember there is hope in our bending our knees in prayer and our bending our will to the Lord. As we exercise faith in things hoped for but not seen, we cling to the promise that even our wandering children will “come again to their own border”—the ways of righteousness they were taught in their youth.
